An open letter to British People

Dear British People,

I am an asylum seeker in the UK. I know you love your country.

I used to love mine, too.

I am writing this letter to you because I do not want you to suffer from the things that I have suffered.

I am seeking asylum in your country as a result of my own government’s totalitarian  actions. This kinds of governments abuse people’s patriotism to seize a country’s powers such as legislative, executive, and judiciary powers.

After seizing all these powers, they turn all these powers of your own country against you. Your laws, law enforcements, and judicial institutions are used to silence and persecute you.

First, lots of enemies are made abroad. Many neighbours are declared adversaries so that you find yourself in complete isolation.

Second, a group of peaceful people amongst you gets labelled as threats to national security. They become “do-gooders”, “lefties”, “traitors”. They get prosecuted, jailed, tortured for nothing. Some of you might enjoy this in the beginning. But remember it will be your turn when the government needs a new opponent.

These governments pick on normal people because they are harmless and they don’t hit back. Teachers, journalists, lawyers, covil servants... Anyone who is a law-abiding citizen with a simple life becomes a potential victim of the government persecutions.  People are forced to run for their life and they become asylum seekers.

Third, nepotism infests your country. You remain desperately futureless and optionless. The government favours relatives and partisans. Jobs are not found; they are vouchsafed.

Finally, you live a miserable life with fears and abuses if you are lucky. If you are less lucky, you flee persecutions as asylum seekers. If unlucky, you rot in prisons with no justifications. In all cases, you are left with no countries to love.
